From the old Puntarenas bus station in San Jose an early morning and early afternoon bus service go directly to Monteverde. The capital San Jose itself is worth a visit with the pre-Columbian Gold Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Culture, the Simon Bolivar Zoo and the Children’s Museum all waiting to be explored – not to mention the shops and nightlife in San Jose’s historic downtown area. The bus takes some 4 to 5 hours, stopping once on route for guests buy food.
